Columbia Cabin

Though the project has been lost to the sands of time, while working for OMFGCO, Katherine Garber and I designed a cabin on a stunning property in Columbia County, Oregon as a gathering space to get away from the hustle and bustle of work and life in the city. Inspired by architectural movements like Pacific Northwest Modern Vernacular and the Third Bay Tradition that celebrated the lands their structures occupy. We sought to create a space that was local, homey, sincere, grounded, and resourceful. The project consisted of a sauna, outdoor kitchen, writer’s cabin, and a two-bedroom, one-bath cabin with a loft. We celebrated regional art and design, eclectic and custom furniture, and sustainable materials full of character. The project was an exercise in exploration and collaboration across aesthetics, skills, and experiences.
